About

Two decades. One obsession.

Dur Company is a studio with workshops in Boston and Miami Beach, building custom doors and architectural millwork from solid hardwoods. Our work is grounded in old joinery and elevated by careful design.

Inside the Dur Company workshop

Dur was founded in 2003 by a furniture maker who couldn't find a door worthy of the brownstone he'd just bought. Twenty-plus years later, we're a team of seven craftspeople working from a 4,500 sq ft workshop in Boston's Seaport district, with a second studio in Miami Beach serving clients across South Florida.

We build everything in-house: from initial sketch to final installation. Our joinery is mortise-and-tenon, our finishes are hand-rubbed, and our hardware is sourced from a small circle of forgers and machinists we've worked with for over a decade.

We take on roughly thirty commissions a year. Each one is signed and numbered on the bottom rail. Each one is built to outlive us.

Our Principles

What we hold ourselves to.

Solid wood, always

We never use veneers, MDF cores, or engineered substrates in primary construction.

Joinery over hardware

Mortise-and-tenon, dovetail, and floating-tenon joinery — fasteners are a last resort.

Lifetime guarantee

If a Dur door fails structurally during your lifetime, we repair or replace it. Period.
